NMSA Leadership

    Krysten Laine, President

I am a twenty-year resident of Niles who joined the Board of the Niles Main Street Association in 2021.

Immediately rising to the role of the Vice President, I jumped in with both feet to help bring back the great events that Niles is known for. Prior to joining the board, I supported events around Niles since moving here. I was an active volunteer with the Niles Holiday Home Tour, Niles Altar Walk, Niles Antique Faire, Spring Fever and Hot August Niles Car Shows, Niles Town Plaza Concert Series, Co-Chaired the Niles Festival of Lights Parade, and many more. Owning a successful event management company, I understand how to bring people together for fun and unique experiences.

Currently my husband Rene and I have taken on the Solon Brothers Service Station at the entrance to Niles, and have converted it into what is now known as the Niles Flying A. We are working hard to restore this classic site and celebrate the history of car culture in Niles. Our efforts could not be done without the support and involvement of many in the Niles community.

Even though we are surrounded by large cities, Niles feels like the small town I grew up in back east where all my neighbors knew each other. I love being a part of this community where we all work and play together to keep Niles fun and safe for everyone.

Want to contribute my time and talents to the benefit of Niles and its community.

  • Gwen Dossey, Secretary

My name is Gwen Dossey. While I do not live in Niles, I am honored to be a member of Niles Main Street Association!

For the past 15 years, I have been a member of the Niles Dog Show committee and have been the chairperson for the past 10 years, except for 2020 and 2021, of course. My dogs and I walk in and around Niles at least once a week and feel a kinship to the town and the people that do live here!

I am lucky enough to be retired since 2019. My husband and I have been married for 36 years, we are currently on bassets #6, 7 and 8 we’ve lived in our home for the past 33 years. I am the Fundraising Coordinator for Golden Gate Basset Rescue as well as a member of their board of directors. I had volunteered at the Masonic Home from 2005 until Covid hit in 2020. I am looking forward to helping Niles Main Street Association (NMSA) in any way that I can to make our events memorable and fun!

My wife Danielle and I moved to Niles in 2009 from my hometown of Santa Cruz. We still live in our beloved little home on J street with an amazing community of neighbors that are more like family than we ever could have imagined.

Professionally, I spent over a decade working various roles in the auto industry, eventually ending up at Tesla where I stayed for nearly four years. In 2019, I left Tesla to take a Quality Program Management position at Google where I plan to stay long-term.

With so much change over the past 13 years, my wife and I have been really grateful for the amazing community of Niles that has always been a source of guidance and support.

In addition to my automotive career, I have always continued to pursue my passion as a drummer, working with several successful bands and as a tech/performer with Narada Michael Walden on gigs all over the western states and as far as Guam and Japan.

Within Niles, I have found a great group of talented folks to play music with and enjoy occasional gigs at the Mud Puddle, the Flying A, the Town Plaza, and a few neighborhood backyards.

As an active member of the Niles community, I am interested in joining the Main Street Board to provide a different perspective and find new ways to contribute to this amazing town.

I’ve lived in our town since 1982.  My husband Tom and I have loved raising our two amazing children Andy & Katie in our precious Niles.

For the last 44 years I have been a big part of putting on events either with our local school or community.  From School fundraisers to National Night Outs to ‘Save our School to Save our Post Office and always helping to support and grow the local businesses in our community.

I love the feeling of bringing everyone together to socialize, stay in touch, grow community and have a great time together!

When my current employer closed down I jumped into retirement. I began my own Senior driving business to assist our community’s senior population and I now have time to dedicate to something I’ve always loved…bringing vintage movies, documentaries and foreign films to our amazing Niles theatre. When I was a teenager I lived in the southern Bay area near Saratoga and rode my bike to the nearby Saratoga Village to see old films in a theater called the Vitafone. I’ve kept my eye & my heart on that vision and I’m excited to work with our NMSA on this dream as well as being a part of the upcoming NMSA’s calendar of annual events.
